Integrated and science-based solutions for antibiotic reduction

In 2016, 700,000 people globally died from diseases that couldn't be treated anymore due to antibiotic resistance and estimates say this could grow to 10 million by 2050 if we don’t solve this urgent challenge. At Trouw Nutrition, we empower our customers to reduce the need for antibiotics by supporting animal health. Research has shown that with an integrated approach to Feed, Farm, Health – management farmers can realise at least equal or improved animal health, welfare and profitability. Trouw Nutrition has done more than a decade of research and testing on health-supporting nutritional concepts and their effect on microbiota composition and gut integrity. Our R&D department conducts more than 150 global studies annually at our in-house research facilities and in collaboration with over 100 global research partners to develop nutritional products, models, and services to address this and other challenges.

Our new poultry research facility builds on our commitment to finding new methods to grow healthy animals without the use of antibiotics, in partnership with our customers and others in the industry. Antibiotic reduction requires a holistic, multidisciplinary, and multi-stakeholder approach in both human and animal health management.
