Trouw Nutrition shares innovations for Feeding the Future sustainably and safely at VIV Asia
Amersfoort, the Netherlands – 18 February, 2025 – Trouw Nutrition, Nutreco’s livestock feed business, is presenting science-based nutrition and digital tools to help farms and feed mills lower the carbon footprint of their operations, support feed safety, and nurture livestock performance at VIV Asia, 12-14 March. Visitors to stand 2-3736 can see live demonstrations of digital technologies like NIR and life cycle assessment tools, learn about proprietary phytogenic ingredients developed for Nutreco’s Garden of the Future, and explore models and tools to support distinct phases of poultry and swine production. Following are highlights of Trouw Nutrition’s presence at VIV Asia.

Fytera Perform: Empowering poultry with the natural powers of plants
Developed by scientists at Nutreco’s Garden of the Future, Fytera Perform is a PhytoComplex that supports specific physiological and metabolic processes inside the bird. Studies around the world have shown that these novel, plant-based functional ingredients can improve feed conversion ratio and overall poultry performance. This natural approach to developing performance-enhancing feed additives responds to marketplace demand for more sustainable poultry production.
NutriOpt demonstration zone: Tools to boost efficiency, quality assurance and sustainability
A NutriOpt demonstration zone spotlights several digital tools to support stakeholders across the value chain and showcase Trouw Nutrition’s commitment to feeding the future.
MyFeedPrint calculates the environmental effects of feed ingredients and complete feeds to help formulators reduce the environmental footprint of feed production. Data generated by MyFeedPrint can help implement practices to reduce carbon emissions and enhance the transparency of feed production.
NutriOpt Swine model demonstrations will show a digital twin prediction model equipped with a life cycle assessment (LCA) that helps inform decisions across the farm. Predictions are based on nutritional science, farm-specific data inputs, and market information. The swine model's modeling capabilities have been used in various countries to predict a range of outcomes. Swine producers can evaluate how any change may affect the farm’s production efficiency, operational economics, and environmental footprint. The swine model analyses data including raw materials, feed additives, genetic potential, health, economics, environment, and management practices. The analysis is used to generate recommendations that can help lower a swine farm’s environmental footprint and guide health, feed, and management decisions across the farm.
The NutriOpt On-site Adviser is supported by Trouw Nutrition’s global database and brings an easy-to-use, mobile approach to near-infrared (NIR) analysis. The NutriOpt On-site Adviser delivers fast, accurate, on the spot, quality assessments of raw materials and/or final feed. NutriOpt’s desktop NIR Spectroscopy provides a cost-effective tool for determining the exact composition of feed ingredients within minutes. The user-friendly MyNutriOpt online platform generates insights from both NutriOpt On-site Adviser and desktop NIR to help guide decisions in the field, in the office, at the barn, or at the feed mill.
NutriOpt Mycotoxin Monitor is Trouw Nutrition’s newest tool for managing mycotoxin risk, analyses global data uploaded in real-time. Easy-to-understand visuals show the mycotoxin contamination percentages and concentrations (ppb) for a select sample or sample group. Analysis can be performed for a specific country, continent, or time. The Mycotoxin Monitor also analyses the risk that contaminated raw materials pose to different species across distinct phases of animal feeding. Using a dataset that includes multiple customers in a country, the Mycotoxin Monitor helps reduce sampling error without imposing additional costs on individual producers.
Piglet centric diets: Supporting efficient piglet production
Milkiwean piglet feeding solutions nurture growth and meet the farm’s unique needs. The Trouw Nutrition solution for piglet nutrition from day one, Milkiwean is a piglet-centric feeding programme designed to accelerate development of the piglet’s digestive system. Optimising the digestive system helps ensure piglets’ continuous feed intake, improving feed digestibility and safeguarding immune competence. Milkiwean offers three different diets tailored to the needs of the pig farm. A feeding approach tailored to the farm’s production objectives and specific challenges gives piglets the best possible start.
Remarking on Trouw Nutrition’s presence at VIV Asia, Alice Hibbert, General Manager APAC Export at Trouw Nutrition, said, “As farms and feed mills in Asia navigate diverse challenges and complex marketplace dynamics, enhancing sustainability is a strategy that can help accomplish producers’ objectives and meet marketplace demands.”
