Biography speaker Coen Smits

Coen Smits studied animal nutrition at Wageningen University. He began his career at Instituut De Schothorst, where he pursued doctoral research in collaboration with Wageningen University and Utrecht University. In 1997, he joined Trouw Nutrition as a poultry researcher, spending three years living and working in Spain. Over the years, Coen has held various roles at Trouw Nutrition, including Manager of Swine Research, Manager of Ingredients, and, ultimately, Head of Global R&D.

Since 2022, he has served as Director of Sustainability at Trouw Nutrition. Last year, he was appointed Extraordinary Professor in the Department of Animal Nutrition at Wageningen University, where he will dedicate part of his time. Coen grew up in Odiliapeel and has three children who are currently enjoying student life.
